This is WONDERFUL for the amateur nerd baker。 Each recipe has a dash of history and literature to give you context for the recipe。 The pages are textured and give you a homey-used feel like a cherished cookbook。 These British recipes are versatile: holiday dinners， weekday breakfasts， experimenting with sweets， fun drinks， and more！ I love this cookbook for every occasion to sprinkle in a bit of magic ✨

The Unofficial Harry Potter Cookbook: From Cauldron Cakes to Knickerbocker Glory--More Than 150 Magical Recipes for Wizards and Non-Wizards AlikeI guess I had very high expectations （and it literally is a cookbook that has ordinary food that appeared in the book/movie） because I read the Harry Potter books， watched the movies went to Harry Potter world tasted butterbeer。 I honestly was a little disappointed not because of the book but more because I thought it would be more entertaining and had The Unofficial Harry Potter Cookbook: From Cauldron Cakes to Knickerbocker Glory--More Than 150 Magical Recipes for Wizards and Non-Wizards AlikeI guess I had very high expectations （and it literally is a cookbook that has ordinary food that appeared in the book/movie） because I read the Harry Potter books， watched the movies went to Harry Potter world tasted butterbeer。 I honestly was a little disappointed not because of the book but more because I thought it would be more entertaining and had like I said very high expectations sure it would be entertaining to make the food but just sitting reading recipes。 The recipes are mainly British foods and not like people thinking of magical and creative ways to make magical drinks， snacks， and meals。 Of course its more interesting than guides about learning to be a teenage girl but its still not exactly my image of sitting and reading a book that is something I want to read for hours at a time。 Its nice to see all of these iconic dishes in 1 cookbook but I guess its harder to enjoy if there's just ingredients written down and not J。K。 Rowling explaining the taste and look。 Its also different from watching movies and seeing the visuals but the food might look like that for all I know it could be styrofoam or CGI （Computer-generated imagery。） I also noticed there were some unnecessary recipes like how to make eggs and bacon。 I understand the simple recipes might have been for younger kids （I am 11 but I read the Harry Potter series when I was 6-8） who don't really know anything about cooking （sorta like me） but judging by how it was written I don't think it was aimed for anybody my age or younger than me because I have a feeling that no one younger than me would sit and randomly read recipes。 。。。more

This book was such a pleasant surprise！ It was such a fun and nostalgic read。 It was filled with so many recipes of foods that have featured in the Harry Potter books， from things that I’ve completely forgotten about to more iconic things like pumpkin pasties and butter beer！ 🥰I would definitely love to own this book one day （I borrowed it from the library）， and recreate some of these recipes。 It would be a great gift too！

I have tried many of these recipes in this book， but as somebody who is used to British foods thanks to my grandma and great grandparents， I was left really underwhelmed with many of them。 Unfortunately， I couldn't try all of the recipes due to my wheat and gluten allergies。 As of yet， I am still playing with some alternatives for the recipes I haven't made yet。 For a fan cookbook， this is a good book。 I enjoyed reading the little bits of information that the author included with the Harry Potte I have tried many of these recipes in this book， but as somebody who is used to British foods thanks to my grandma and great grandparents， I was left really underwhelmed with many of them。 Unfortunately， I couldn't try all of the recipes due to my wheat and gluten allergies。 As of yet， I am still playing with some alternatives for the recipes I haven't made yet。 For a fan cookbook， this is a good book。 I enjoyed reading the little bits of information that the author included with the Harry Potter series and food。 I think it was interesting to have the correlation between the two。 However， I feel that there are better recipes out there for the British and French recipes within this book。 I found that one of the French onion soup recipes was too runny and the other one was too disgusting （who adds milk to French onion soup？）。 There were some duplicate recipes that I did not try out。 Brown soup and Queen Victoria's soup are the same thing， but the author is trying to pass them off as two separate recipes。 For a beginner's cookbook， I think that this is a good start to trying out complicated recipes。 It's writing is meant for a child audience more than an adult one， and the recipes and instructions are meant for children to try out。 I think， however， that there are better cookbooks out there for the recipes that are here。 This is great for very young fans of Harry Potter and for the fans that want to try British （inspired） food。 。。。more

Ni que decir tiene que amo el mundo de Harry Potter y todo lo relacionado con él。 De pequeña seguí las publicaciones de los libros y vi todas las películas en su estreno， así que cuando descubrí este libro lo primero que pensé es que necesitaba tenerlo en mis manos。 Y dicho esto， ¡aquí tenéis mi opinión！Esta reseña será un poco peculiar porque os voy a hablar de un recetario ambientado en el universo de Harry Potter。 Puede ser que parezca una lectura típica， pero la verdad es que este libro me h Ni que decir tiene que amo el mundo de Harry Potter y todo lo relacionado con él。 De pequeña seguí las publicaciones de los libros y vi todas las películas en su estreno， así que cuando descubrí este libro lo primero que pensé es que necesitaba tenerlo en mis manos。 Y dicho esto， ¡aquí tenéis mi opinión！Esta reseña será un poco peculiar porque os voy a hablar de un recetario ambientado en el universo de Harry Potter。 Puede ser que parezca una lectura típica， pero la verdad es que este libro me ha sorprendido para bien。 Para empezar， este libro contiene alrededor de unas 150 recetas muy variadas， por lo que cocina tenemos para rato。 Además， su división por capítulos es un punto a favor porque， más o menos， puedes localizar las recetas sin ningún tipo de problemas。 Cocina con Harry Potter está dividido en diez capítulos titulados:Buena comida con malos parientesDelicias del callejónCaprichos en el trenLos favoritos de la cocineraDesayuno antes de claseAlmuerzo y cena en el Gran ComedorPostres y refrigerios del colegioMenú de vacacionesCaprichos en el puebloMe parecía interesante comentar el título de cada capítulo porque entiendo que más o menos os haréis una idea del contenido （aunque bueno， igual hay que echarle imaginación）。 Lo que sí os puedo aclarar es que podemos cocinar de todo: sopas， caldos y gachas， carnes， pescados， huevos， verduras y guarniciones， postres， helados， caramelos y golosinas， bebidas y panes， bollos y pastas。 Una vez que tenemos los títulos y los tipos de comida （que vienen siendo todos）， ahora toca adentrarse en el contenido de cada uno de los capítulos。Al principio de cada capítulo se introduce un poco la temática de las recetas que se van a ver en dicho capítulo， por supuesto， siempre a través de referencias a los libros de Harry Potter。Las recetas están muy bien explicadas。 En la parte izquierda de la página tenemos los ingredientes y en la parte derecha una anécdota real sobre el plato en cuestión。 En la siguiente página （o siguientes páginas） nos encontramos con las instrucciones， claramente explicadas， para realizar nuestra deliciosa comida o bebida。Lo interesante es que en la zona superior， y al principio de cada receta， existe un pequeño texto que relaciona un momento o situación acaecido en la saga de Harry Potter con el contenido de la receta。Quiero aclarar que， si bien el recetario está ambientado en este mundo， no todas las recetas son de platos «mágicos»。 De hecho， la mayoría de ellas pueden pasar por comida muggle， al fin y al cabo toda comida parte de la misma base。 Por último， quiero añadir que al final del libro tenemos el índice de las recetas y varias páginas de anotaciones para apuntar cualquier cosita。La autora ha hecho un gran trabajo con este recetario。 Se nota que se ha documentado muy bien， y queda demostrado que tiene muchos conocimientos sobre este mundo。Cocina con Harry Potter es un libro que contiene recetas originales y otras más conocidas cuyo punto en común son las referencias del universo de Harry Potter。 Un libro muy útil para todas aquellas personas que amen la cocina y quieran innovar en sus platos。 。。。more

I did not enjoy this at all。 I eventually just started skimming because other than vague references， this has nothing to do with Harry Potter or the foods mentioned in the books or movies。 These are random （and not very good） recipes that some person spent little effort accumulating。 She slapped HP on the front so she could make a buck off of the name alone and went about her business。 It’s a good way to make some quick money， but that’s the only positive thing I have to say about it。

This is one of my favourite cookbooks。 Each recipe is accompanied by a tidbit about the food， sometimes additional suggestions for preparation ideas and descriptions of the inspiration from the books。 The author does a wonderful job having a sense of humour about cooking and telling interesting tidbits about the food without overwhelming the recipes with long stories and anecdotes。 The author also does a great job infusing a Harry Potter spirit into the book while keeping things realistic。 There This is one of my favourite cookbooks。 Each recipe is accompanied by a tidbit about the food， sometimes additional suggestions for preparation ideas and descriptions of the inspiration from the books。 The author does a wonderful job having a sense of humour about cooking and telling interesting tidbits about the food without overwhelming the recipes with long stories and anecdotes。 The author also does a great job infusing a Harry Potter spirit into the book while keeping things realistic。 There's lots of visual description for how the food should look and tips for how to fix some things that have gone wrong。 There isn't much assumption of skills， so it's easy to follow along and mostly clear of jargon。 I also love that this is mostly food from the books rather than Harry Potter themed snacks from the author's imagination。 As enjoyable as those are， it's not always helpful if you're looking for something from the books。 The only thing I would add would be pictures。 。。。more
